Our Mission
Our desire is that everyone becomes a part of the Evangel family through COMMUNITY, while experiencing the powerful presence of the Lord in our CORPORATE WORSHIP, CULTIVATING a deeper relationship with God, and express it through ministries of COMPASSION.

Rooted in God’s Word
We affirm the historic, Spirit‑empowered faith of the Church—one God revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; the full inspiration and authority of the Scriptures; salvation by grace through faith in Jesus; water baptism and communion; the baptism in the Holy Spirit empowering believers for witness; divine healing; the blessed hope of Christ’s return; and the resurrection to eternal life.

OUR STORY
From a storefront to a multi-national church family.
God has been faithful through every season of Evangel. Here are a few milestones that shaped who we are today.
Geer Street Storefront
Evangel began over seventy years ago in a small storefront on Geer Street—a handful of people hungry for God’s presence.
Holloway Street Season
As the church grew, we moved to Holloway Street, serving neighbors and forming a heart for Durham and the nations.
Lynn Road Campus
God led us to 1011 Lynn Rd, where we worship today and make room for the next generation.
A Multi-National Family
Jesus is gathering people from many nations into one church family—worshiping in English and Spanish together.
Missions & Sending
For decades we’ve supported missionaries and short-term teams, carrying the Gospel near and far.
Today & What’s Next
With prayer, Bible teaching, and compassion, we’re building for tomorrow—believing God for revival in Durham.
